The wait is almost over, folks! (Developing: New Season of All My Children will begin Mon., April 29th, 2013 on Hulu. Click HERE to read more!)
Talk about drama! Soap fans mourned as it was announced in April that longtime soaps All My Children and One Life to Live would be taken off of the air and replaced with talk show-esque programming more suitable to the younger audience who were not keen on daytime dramas (ie: The Chew and The Revolution). A lot of AMC fans (including myself) were NOT happy with ABC’s decision to yank both soaps that have been on TV for 40 and 45 years respectively. All My Children‘s four decade long run is due to end on ABC on 9/23, but there is a silver lining: both All My Children and One Life To Live would continue their storylines and pick up where they left off on the Internet.
Cameron Mathison who plays Ryan Lavery on All My Children announced Thursday that “several” All My Children players have signed on to continue to perform on the daytime drama which now will be produced for the web.
Mathison made the announcement on Thursday’s Good Morning America. “Just as soaps were very pivotal in the transition from radio to television, they’ll be right in the thick of things again in the transition from television to the internet”.
A production company by the name of Prospect Park purchased the rights to both All My Children and One Life to Live back in July, but it was not announced exactly what they would do with those said rights. But now AMC’s diehard fans can still see many of their favorite characters in Pine Valley, except this time, it will be on the computer and not the TV.
The storylines will pick up right where they left off, but there is still a lot that we don’t know. Who is staying on for the web version? How will we get access to see it? How often will new episodes be available online?
I guess we will have to wait and see.
Are you a fan of All My Children and/or One Life to Live? Will you be watching the web version? Will Erica Kane stay? Let’s chat—tell me what you think!

I will definately watch All My Children….I have been a fan for over 40 years….I’m really hoping they will put it on a cable station though, because that way I can record it like I’ve been doing for years. I was so sad watching the last episode not knowing which stars are going to continue with AMC.

I’m glad I seen this. My mom has been wondering what was up with them. She heard they were sticking around but hadn’t heard much talk. I see why…it’ll be online now -_-
Majority of the people that love this show & have been watching it for sometime don’t use computers like that.

I was very sad watching the last ABC episode of All My Children. I have been watching it since 1976 was I was 12 years old. I feel like a piece of my heart has been yanked out. I will not be watching ABC at 1pm any longer. I dont care what they put on. I am looking forward to watching it online. I hope it happens soon!
June says
I would definitely go online to see AMC. I watched the very first episode and have just watched the last one that will air on television. When the information is available about when and where it will be available, let me know. It will be interesting ti see how it will be handled.
The ending today was quite a cliffhanger and I was disappointed in the way it was handled. Mixed emotions about the “Gone With The Wind” aspect between Jack and Erica, however Jack leaving Erica was long overdue.

I have been watching AMC and OLTL for yrs. First it’s AMC, now to find out it’s also OLTL. Now what are your true and faithful people going to do?……. One way economy will go up is every-one who likes one or both shows will have to buy a comp. But us poor folks will have to come up with m-o-r-e money

I have watched AMC since it began and was sooo very disappointed that ABC cancelled this wonderful story about people and their lives to put on yet another food/talk show. I do not plan to watch this replacement. I hope others refuse to watch it also. Good-bye ABC!

I have watched AMC since its inception in 1970 when I was in 6th grade!!! My mom passed the addiction on to me. In Jr. High and High School I watched during the summers; and when I went to college, I planned my class schedule around AMC. Even though I have worked fulltime since college, I have always taped the program, sometimes watching a full week’s worth of episodes on the weekend. I can’t BELIEVE ABC would kill the show for yet ANOTHER (temporary!!!!) talk show. I am SO SICK of reality TV!!!! I want to be entertained to take my mind off my own problems — to escape from reality!!!! Not to watch someone else’s reality 24/7. What is this world coming to???
I am thrilled that AMC will be available online; and I will definitely watch. My concern is that I won’t know WHEN it starts, so I can pick up where I left off with all my “friends” in Pine Valley.
Mimi says
Not only have I watched AMC since the beginning but I also had someone record it and mail it to me for 3 years while being stationed in Japan!

I will definitely watch all my children on line. I’ve been a fan for 30 years.

Most definitely will I continue to watch All My Children! Following the show online is the next move for technology and we fans are ready to watch new episodes! I’m sure there will be web parties when All My Children becomes available!
