The holiday season is the perfect time to celebrate old traditions and create new ones. In my family, one holiday tradition that we hold true each year is that each of us opens one gift on Christmas Eve. It’s something that both of my kiddos really enjoy, and I have to admit, I do too! But we also like to make new holiday traditions as well. This year, a new tradition is that each of us are going to make our own ornament for our tree.
Another holiday tradition that we all love to indulge in during the holidays is our Thanksgiving and Christmas parties. We always have the family over for turkey dinner on Thanksgiving, and then a close-knit soiree on Christmas Eve. During these events, we have the usual fixings, but we also enjoy finger foods and appetizers that are easy to make and share. This year, I received a Hickory Farms Party Planner box filled with cheeses, spreads, beef sausages, and nuts. It’s the perfect item to share with my guests!
Hickory Farms has been known for over 60 years as a holiday staple. Established in 1951, Hickory Farms has been creating quality gifts and delectable holiday foods and goods that you can be proud to share. I look forward to coming up with creative and meaningful ideas for gifts for my parents. They basically have everything they need, so it is a meaningful challenge to come up with an appropriate and meaningful gift.

Growing up I never lived anywhere that allowed for pets but I always wanted a dog. Can’t remember when it started but my mother and I always watch the dog show together on Thanksgiving while the last few items are cooking. Although my mom is almost 30 years older than me she’s like a big sister. We missed carrying out our tradition over the last few years. However, we were just talking this past Saturday about how we are both looking forward to watching it together this year.

I look forward to the holiday baking. We do quite a bit of baking on Christmas Eve; cookies, cake, candied pecans, sweet breads, etc. And we sit and decorate the cookies while Christmas music or classic holiday movies/cartoons play in the background. It’s a lot of work, but I love it. Then on Christmas morning we have hot cocoa or coquito with our homemade goodies while opening up our gifts.

I do the same thing with my children that my parents did with me…random pajama rides! When a pajama ride is announced everyone stops, jumps in the car, and goes cruising for Christmas light displays 🙂 So much fun.
