As you may have read in previous blog entries the last month, I am currently in the midst of losing weight and getting in shape. For me, it was not so much as wanting to look good on the outside but I wanted to feel good on the inside. Constantly traveling and eating on the run while selecting poor food choices began to wreck havoc with my health. I gained weight and my vitals (blood sugar and cholesterol) were both higher than they should be. So I started working out and tracking my calories. I also began making healthier food decisions, and so far, I’ve lost 15 pounds.
The wonderful people at the Midwest Dairy Council want to help us get healthy and fit—from the inside out. Milk is a great way to get in the fit of things. It builds strong bones and nourishes the body. And did you know that milk is a great way to refuel after a workout? Who knew?
Here are some other great, healthy and fit facts about milk:
· Fuel for an Active Lifestyle — Milk’s nine essential nutrients play an important role in fueling an active lifestyle. Drinking milk can be an ideal way to help the body refuel, rehydrate and recover after a workout.
· Chocolate Milk Is Nature’s Sports Drink — Research published in the International Journal of Sports Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism on young adults showed that chocolate milk is twice as effective as commercial sports drinks to refuel exhausted muscles. Part of this is due to its ideal carbohydrate to protein ratio.
· Whey Protein Packs Energy — Whey protein is a high-quality protein found naturally in dairy foods, and it provides the protein your body can best use to help promote better health. It helps you get the most out of your workout by speeding muscle recovery after exercise and helping build and maintain lean muscle. If you are always on the go like me, try this protein-packed Peanut Butter and Banana Breakfast Shake.

I’m following both FB pages. I’ve been on Weight Watchers for 1 1/2 years now, and have lost 35 pounds. It’s really helped me adopt a healthier approach to eating!

I follow you, of course 😉 And the Midwest Dairy Council too…
And I’ve started working out every day. Hubby bought an elliptical and I’ve been letting myself get ripped to shreds by Jillian DVD’s…as well as attempting to eat better and cutting out pop…I definitely don’t always succeed but I’m trying.

I follow both on Facebook, and the way that I’m working out now is just walking a lot and eating better food. And it’s not as consistent as it could be – looking to change that.

With this pregnancy, and typically, I stay fit by watching what goes into my mouth. I’m not as active as I used to be since I hurt my legs, but still try to walk when I can. I’m a huge water drinker, smoothie and fiber obsessed, and generally diet conscious all around. I’m drooling over the hand blender LOL! Oh and I follow you and the MDC on FB. Thanks for the great give away!

I make exercise a family affair. Most afternoons, I can be found pushing my youngest daughter around in her stroller while her big sister walks alongside us. A great way for us all to get some fresh air and set a good fitness example for my daughters to emulate! 😀

I have add and following both on Facebook.
The ways I keep fit is remain active throughout my day. By taking the stairs and jogging whenever and sometimes do yoga. I eat healthy and can not live without H2o. I think the kit will help me become more motivate and persistent with remaining active. THANK YOU!!!

I’m following you both on Facebook (Michelle Hudak)
Two years ago I was on Weight Watchers and I lost 20lbs and felt great. Then I had surgery on my neck and let myself fall back into all the bad habits I had before. Now, I think I’ve gained all that back and then some. I just took the dog to the vet and she said he really needs to drop the weight too. Both of us are going to start walking 4 nights a week and I’m watching what I buy now and am taking salads to work instead of bags of chips. Hoping for a little less of me by the time fall rolls around (goodbye fat rolls!) and hopefully for Bo the Wonder Dog too.
