Fall is almost here. And you don’t want to wait for the last minute to prepare. As far as fashion, beauty, and your household goes, the start of fall means a few changes as it pertains to your lifestyle.
Here are 8 things you should do to prepare for fall:
Clean Out the Closet:
Cleaning out your closet and changing it from summer attire to fall attire is relatively easy. Fold and pack away those shorts and skirts and tank tops and place them in a Space Saver bag or storage container. You also want to do the same for your shoes. I usually tackle this chore during the weekend because I not only have to do this for myself but for my six year old as well. Tackle the job with care so you don’t miss anything, and make sure you have plenty of storage containers to pack away your summer items. As for your fall items, make sure to take stock of the items you have and for the clothing that is either no longer in style or no longer fits, simply place them in a bag, and take them to the nearest Goodwill or Salvation Army to cut down on clutter.
Dry Clean Please
It may not be time for coat weather, but you want to be ready when it hits. This is the perfect time to take your winter coats and jackets into the cleaners so they can get refreshed.
Make-Up Bag
As with fashions, there are certain colors and hues I wear in the fall only. Just like I clean out my closet and change it over from summer to fall, I do the same with my make-up bag. I put away the summer colors I will no longer wear and make room for my fall collections.
Test Out Your Heat
Don’t wait to test out your heating system in your home. Test it now and make sure it works so that when you do have to use it, it will be working properly. If you need to make repairs, you can do it before the cold winds begin to blow. Also, cover your AC unit if you have a window unit to stop the cold air from getting into your home.
See Your Mechanic
Prepare you automobile for the cold weather by having it checked by your licensed and trusted mechanic. He will make sure that your car is weatherized and prepared for the winter by checking your heating and cooling, tire wear and pressure, and engine fluids. Schedule your car check-up today.
Prepare Your Yard For Cooler Temperatures
If you have a yard, you may want to start changing out your flowers and preparing your yard for winter. Make sure you have plenty of yard waste bags for falling foliage and leaves, and take advantage of the sales of winter items such as snow melt and salt for the upcoming winter snow and ice.
Know the Info
Make sure you have handy the number to your child’s school closing line just in case of school closings due to weather. Also have handy your employee phone chain list or other protocol in case of inclement weather.
Daylight Savings Time
Make note that in the U.S. and Canada, time goes back an hour for Daylight Savings Time on Sunday, November 7th at 2 am. Place this date on a calendar on your smartphone or wireless device so that you can change the clocks in your home. Also when DST occurs, change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
Doing the 8 things above can help you usher in the new fall season without much worry or hassle. Fall is my favorite season of the year, and I am already setting in motion the tips I listed above. Bookmark this page for future use and have fun FALLING BACK!
