When it comes to social networking and the use of apps and websites that can improve my life and make my hectic schedule easier, I am all for it. But I also tend to be on the late show when it comes to new stuff. I kept hearing about Yelp last year and I finally began using the site a few months ago, which has been a fun experience, for the most part.
What is Yelp, you ask? For those of you who do not know, it is a website that allows you to rate and critique restaurants, stores, services, nightspots, etc. You can create a profile and begin rating your favorite places with the click of the button. Yelp also lists events in your area as well and works as a social networking site, linking members to one another via a messaging system within the site.
Yelp is wonderful, especially for when you are visiting a new venue or you are traveling. Want a Thai restaurant and you are in a new city? You can easily search for that genre and get ratings from visitors that have experienced their food. Yelp also works with the Foursquare app and you can seamlessly check in on Foursquare and then connect to Yelp via the app. Genius!
In a world of overabundance of social networking hubs, Yelp sticks out as much needed tool that makes for an easy and fun interactive experience. Get your Yelp on today!
