With the 5 year anniversary of Katrina filling the airwaves, much is being said about The Big Easy. New Orleans has had so much to overcome—Hurricane Katrina and then the BP Oil Spill that has affected that area greatly. New Orleans has struggled to rise back up from the “ashes” so to speak, but don’t let the media fool you. There are good things happening in New Orleans, and now there is an Internet portal discussing the positive things going on in NOLA.
Good Nola is a fun site that has all of the buzz and local happenings of New Orleans. If you are into the arts, entertainment, food, and culture that New Orleans is known for, then you need to bookmark the site and check it regularly.
According to the founder of Good Nola:
Good Nola is a local website and organization dedicated to showcasing positive media about New Orleans and spotlighting individuals and organizations in New Orleans doing great things. Media focuses so much on the problems with New Orleans, it’s time we focus on the good things going on in the city and helping those efforts.
I like this site because there are many pundits that will tell you that New Orleans is not a city worth being mentioned anymore. You hear a lot about the negative things about New Orleans, but the truth is New Orleans has been prospering post Katrina.
Shercole, the founder and organizer of the site had this to say about GoodNola.com:
I started Good Nola because I love New Orleans, I have a passion for the city and everything it stands for. The culture, the people, the food is close to my heart. Too often I was hearing so many negative things about my city and the people and I just wanted to do my part, no matter how small it was and start showing all the good things going on in the city and spotlighting all the wonderful people doing amazing things in my community. New Orleans is way more than what’s just seen in the news and I wanted to share at least some of what I see on a regular basis.
I encourage each and every one of you to visit GoodNola.com. Together, we can all support New Orleans and raise awareness about the “good” in Nola!
Will you visit GoodNola.com?
