Disclosure: As an online influencer and resident of St. Louis, I was selected to partake in a complimentary weekend stay at the newly renovated Marriott St Louis Grand Hotel in the heart the Washington Avenue district. The opinions expressed in this review belong to me and are not indicative of the brand(s) mentioned. As this is an honest review, I have not been monetarily compensated for this post.
Staycation, anyone?
That was what was on the menu a few weekends ago when myself alongside two other bloggers were invited to preview the newly renovated Marriott St Louis Grand Hotel. Formerly known as the Renaissance Grand, it is a hotel with tons of history and charm. Through rebranding efforts, the hotel underwent a few cosmetic changes and updates to cater to a younger, more well-heeled crowd who travel just as much for personal as they do for business.
It was a special weekend for me, as I was in celebration mode due to reaching a personal milestone. So staying at the hotel for the weekend was a gift in itself. And as an avid traveler, a staycation was just what the doctor ordered, as getting away while still staying in your own city can be a way to recharge and regroup. But since I was also there to get my review on, I was also in work mode too. So I want to share with you a few of my favorite things about the newly re-imagined Marriott St Louis Grand Hotel.
Wide Open Spaces
The Great Room area, lobby, and Zenia Bar and Grille all have an open floor plan which really bodes well to the design of the hotel and to the traveler. When you are outside of your room visiting various areas of the hotel, you don’t want those areas to feel like your room. You want them to be open and free so that you can be comfortable hanging with your friends or chatting it up with your colleagues. I loved the open floor plan of these areas, and I wish more hotels had this type of layout in the common areas.
Millennial Traveler Mode
The Marriott St Louis Grand Hotel seems like a custom fit for the millennial traveler who is visiting for business or pleasure. There are plenty of outlets for charging devices in the lobby, bar, and in the hotel room. The clean lines and decor is modern and trendy, yet practical and user friendly.
Food, Glorious Food
The Zenia Bar and Grille located in the hotel offers an array of food selections for even the most discriminating pallet. And you also have a Starbucks within the hotel and the 8th Street Market, which has all types of goodies if you are on the go.
Old Meets New
The new Marriott St Louis Grand was actually built back in 1917 as part of the Statler group of hotels and was the first air conditioned hotel in the U.S. (who knew?). So while it has been redone and modernized, it still holds some of the authentic vibe including the original Statler Ballroom which is used today. The hotel is also listed in the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. It’s got everything you love about an older, stately hotel with new bells and whistles.
Oasis in the Heart of the City
A grand staycation of fabulous hotel away from home is waiting for you at Marriott Grand St Louis. And it is right in the epicenter of the Washington Avenue district, which is filled with art, entertainment, food, and more. Everything you need is within walking distance of the building, and you can participate in the happening city scene in an area that is growing, thriving, urban, and hip. It’s in one of my favorite areas of St. Louis–the energy in the area is contagious.
When staying at Marriott St Louis Grand, you will get the following:
- Smart TV with Netflix, Hulu, and more access
- Spacious bathrooms with updated fixtures
- Room service available
- Meeting and conference space
- Valet parking
- Fitness center
- Special “club” floor access for Marriott Rewards members
- Online check-in
- Helpful and friendly staff
I highly recommend Marriott St Louis Grand for your next stay in St. Louis. I am even planning another getaway there with my girlfriends later this year. I can’t wait to visit again and take in the grandness of it all. For more information, click for their website. Or visit them on Twitter, Facebook, and/or Instagram.

Staycations are a must. I love them because I can get away for a day without feeling “mommy guilt.” I haven’t been back to STL since I moved south, but the Marriott St Louis Grand Hotel will be on my must-visit list next time!

I stayed at that hotel last year for a conference while it was still under renovation. I liked it then – glad to know it’s even better now!
