This is a sponsored conversation, however, it is a topic close to my heart. Please take a moment to read and comment.
I’ve been a mama for a little over twenty years. Between the both of my kiddos, I’ve survived nineteen first days of school, one bout of chicken pox, umpteen colds, flus, and ear infections, 150+ meltdowns, 17 hosted slumber parties, Barney and Friends, Dora the Explorer, Britney Spears, Taylor Swift, and 5 cellphones. And that is just the appetizer. None of this matters, though, when it comes to my children. I love them more than words can express, and I feel so very blessed to be able to be a mom to a 20 year old and a 10 year old who bring me joy on the daily. My kids are my everything, and despite the fact that one of them has flown the coop and has started his own life hundreds of miles away, he’s still my baby and always will be. Love is a gift that keeps on giving. And it’s a gift that I covet with an open heart.
In the daily goings on of life, we can forget to tell those closest to us how we feel. We can get caught up in the latest breaking news, global epidemic, and latest celebrity divorce—life is that way. But we always must take time out to show those we care and love that we appreciate them. One of my goals this year was to be more expressive and attentive to the emotional needs of those around me, so this year, I’ve been all about the love. My tween daughter can tell you that she now pulls away from my hugs and doesn’t tell me she loves me as much as she used to, but that hasn’t stopped me from holding her tighter and telling her several times a day that I love her. And deep down inside even though she acts like she doesn’t like it, she does. And she will remember that her mama was affectionate, even when it wasn’t reciprocated.
THAT is what love’s about. It’s not tit-for-tat, or with conditions, nor is it perfect. It weathers storms, bridges gaps, and heals wounds. And love is always on time.
The MassMutual Love Is A Gift campaign is all about visually expressing the love you have for others to help others. It’s a virtual celebration that encourages you to snap a photo with those you love and care for the most to help a cause that MassMutual has partnered with for many years—Easter Seals. Simply upload a photo here to the Love is a Gift website, or on your public Instagram account using the #LoveIsAGift hashtag, and MassMutual will donate $1 per photo up to $50,000.
I also urge you to join us for the MassMutual #LoveIsAGift Twitter Chat being held on Wednesday, November 5th from 11am to 12pm CST/ 10am to 11am CST.
The #LoveIsAGift initiative is important, because it highlights real people showing real love to help real people. No matter our backgrounds, origin, or livelihood, we all deserve love. There’s no greater gift!

Yes! My kids are my world. Don’t know where I’d be without ’em 🙂

I remember being 5 years old (that was decades ago, lol) and my mother was extra affectionate toward me during the time where someone was killing children at the time in Atlanta (I’m was in NYC). I was always trying to run away from the hugs and kisses. Looking back, I appreciate the show lot love and affectionate and it meant a lot to me growing up, where I transfer that same action toward the children in the family (I don’t have kids, I’m referring to the nieces and nephews), so I can identified. This was a great inspiring post!

Thank you for reading. I try so very hard to not take the pulling away personal. I know it’s a rite of passage. And I know she will look back on this and know that I loved her and showed her that I loved her. 🙂
