There are many of us who spend more hours at work than anywhere else. And depending on where you work, it can be a sedentary environment, causing you to sit still at a desk for hours at a time. I’ve written a few blog posts that give tips on how to increase your workplace wellness while staying active at work. There are many things that you can do to ensure that you are moving around and burning calories. One way to help encourage you is to wear an activity tracker. Doing so can clue you in on the steps you are taking, the amount of calories you are burning, etc. It can be a great way to promote activity while you are at work, while making sure you are moving around.
I am a huge fan of the UP by Jawbone activity tracker and I use it while working from home to get me going. Working from home has its advantages and disadvantages, one being I don’t have very far to go from my bedroom to my office, to other areas in my home. Using the UP by Jawbone reminds me to get up and moving by using the 45-15 rule (for every 45 minutes at my desk, there must be 15 minutes of activity).
And because I want to help others stay healthy in the workplace, I am giving away an UP By Jawbone activity tracker. It can be used with your smartphone app to help you maximize your activity. For a full review of UP, click here.
The UP by Jawbone retails for $99.99. The unit I am giving away will be blue in color. It will be a new in box unit shipped from Jawbone.

Sometimes working from home makes it impossible to feel “well” as I find myself sitting at the laptop and then the only moves I make have me headed to the kitchen. Bad stuff! I try to convince myself to get out and get some fresh air often!

Andrea, I know the feeling. It is hard, but not impossible. Getting up often, walking around, taking breaks to walk the dog or walk the neighborhood, and using the stairs often if you have them in your home are a few ways we can stay active while working from home. I often walk in place during conference calls to keep moving. Being creative is key 🙂

Sitting is killing us and I sit too much. Getting reminders to get up from my desk would help keep me active throughout the work day. Please enter me in the UP giveaway.

Good luck to you Andrea!

Great giveaway! I’m currently on a wellness journey and since I work from home walking and going to the gym has been a way to keep me moving and losing pounds. Some times you have to step away from computer and get a breath of fresh air. Walk around and explore your surrounding 🙂

I sit so much at work and I have been trying to get up and go to the department and ask a question instead of just picking up the phone. Also, parking in one of the farthest spots away instead of close so I walk further to get in and out of work.

I park further away so I have to walk more on my way to work then back to my car, use the stairs instead of the elevator.

I make a goal to drink at least 4 bottled waters a day and to bring my own snacks and lunch instead of ordering out. I eat a more healthy and balanced meal this way. And it saves money too. I also use the printer that is farther away from my desk

I try to take the stairs as much as possible. I am on the fourth floor and my goal is at least 5 times a day.. my record was 12 times in one day. I struggle with my weight loss and this would be an awesome gift!

We have an “active office” space with treadmill desks that you can reserve for 30 minutes sessions. I try to use it at least once a week, but they are loud and smell kind of weird so it’s hard. 🙂
