Southwest Airlines and Nintendo Partner to Make Holiday Travel Fun Again
As the holiday season gets underway, millions of families all over the country will begin traveling far and near to spend this special time with loved ones. Oftentimes, traveling during this time of year can be anything but pleasant—it can be stressful, slow, and even painful as the weather can wreak havoc for flight travel. In order to make holiday travel fun again and an experience that families enjoy rather than loathe, Southwest Airlines and Nintendo have partnered to offer Nintendo Wii U Gaming Lounges in several airports.
The Nintendo Wii U Gaming Lounge offer the entire family the opportunity to enjoy some fun while they wait for their flight. Families can bond over Super Mario 3D World while getting in some activity as well. The games allow for both kids and adults to move around instead of being sedentary sitting down at the gate, and are a great way to beat the travel blues.
The following airports currently have the Nintendo Wii U Gaming Lounges in the Southwest area gate areas:
Dallas (Love Field)
St. Louis (Lambert International East Terminal)
Atlanta (Harstfield International Airport)
Chicago (Midway Airport)
Denver International Airport
Tampa International Airport
The Nintendo Wii U Mario 3D Gaming Lounges will be open from November 25th through December 22nd, 8am to 8pm daily.
To celebrate this new partnership, Southwest Airlines and Nintendo surprised a lucky flight from St. Louis to Dallas with Wii U Mario 3D Gaming Bundles on Tuesday. Each family on the flight received a console plus two Super Mario games for their enjoyment. The passengers were surprised during the flight with this announcement, and Mario was on hand at their gate Dallas’ Love Field to welcome them and congratulate them on their prize.
Talk about a wonderful way to start off the Thanksgiving holiday!

I want to thank Nintendo, Southwest Airlines, and Golin Harris for the opportunity to be a part of this exciting launch and giveaway celebration. As a St. Louisan, it was awesome to see folk from my city get an amazing and memorable gift.

We flew for Thanksgiving and our son would have loved this at the airport. He enjoys seeing characters like Mario and playing games.
