If you think you need to spend a lot to get your home haunting for the holidays, think again! All you really need to do is head to your local Dollar Tree store where you can turn some basic supplies into something wonderful. For example, take a peek below at this DIY Halloween Votive Holder! It is so charming and reflects the holiday, plus you can make it in just minutes. Oh, and don’t worry about spending big bucks either. This DIY votive holder will cost you just a few bucks to create, a fraction of the cost if you were to buy a pre-made one at the store. So take a look below and see how you can make your very own!
DIY Halloween Votive Holder
Supplies Needed:
Cubed glass votive holder
Thick Halloween themed ribbon
Halloween garland
Hot glue, glue gun
Scissors
Battery operated votive candle
Remember, you should be able to find all of these items at your local Dollar Tree store as I did. Check there first so you can really put this piece together on a dime! You should not have to look any further than the Halloween décor and crafting aisles to get everything you need.
Directions:
1. First, wrap your Halloween themed ribbon around the square votive holder. This will give you an idea of how much you will need to cut. Make a small mark to note how much ribbon it takes to wrap all of the way around it.
2. Cut the ribbon to size and wrap it around the votive holder. Using your hot glue, apply a thin strip at the end of the ribbon. Press the two ends together while pulling tightly so that the ribbon is secure around the votive holder.
3. Next, apply a strip of glue along the top rim of the votive holder. This is where your garland will now go. Cut a piece of garland to size and press it firmly to the hot glue. This will create a fun and festive rim on the holder.
4. Once everything is dry, place the battery operated votive in the holder. You will see how lovely it looks glowing through the ribbon and how it will reflect off the sparkle of the garland!
It is advised that you only use battery operated votives as you do not want to pose a fire hazard with the garland. You can find these battery operated votives for 2 for $1 at Dollar Tree and they really last a long time.
This is such a great craft to do with kiddos, on girls night, or if you just want to create some frugal Halloween spirit in your home. Give this simple DIY project a try and let’ s see what you can come up with!
