5 Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day with Your Kids

Written By: Parenting Contributor, Prerna Malik, TheMomWrites.com

Valentine’s Day is literally {and figuratively!} one of the world’s most loved holidays. It is a day when we show our love in meaningful ways to those dear to us, and since we should always tell our kids how much we love them AND show them as well, celebrating Valentine’s Day with our children is a beautiful tradition to start.

Here are some 5 simple and fun ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your kids:

1. Splash the Color of Love

Make Valentine’s Day a day when all of you dress up in reds and pinks. Add splashes of red and pink wherever you can – the table, cutlery, crockery and even foods.  A luscious pink strawberry smoothie, anyone?

2. Have a Heart

Make heart-shaped cookies and cake or pancakes for breakfast. Wake up the kids with a large heart-shaped card with a message for each one of them. Cut hearts out of colored cardstock or even, newspaper and make paper garlands to string around the house.

3. Have a Kiddie Date

Take the kids out on a special meal to their favorite restaurant and have enjoy some quality one-on-one time with them. Let it be a day when they get to really have fun, enjoy themselves fully and truly, feel loved.

4. Start a Valentine Tradition

You could create a family tradition around Valentine’s Day. It could be as simple as a family breakfast or something deeper, like community service or volunteering to show others some love. It could also be something fun like a day trip to the National park or the Zoo. Just find something that everyone, especially the kids, will love and voila, you have your V-Day Tradition.

5. Valentine’s Day Craft Activities

There are tons of Valentine’s Day craft activities that the kids and you can have fun making paper hearts, cards and more. Need some ideas?
