If your family is anything like mine, then you are all plugged in to technology. In our family, both my 18 year old and my 8 year old are on the Internet. My 18 year old uses it more for watching TV online and streaming movies as well as downloading music and applications. He has both a smartphone and a laptop that all run off of our Wi-Fi at home. My 8 year old has a Kindle Fire which she loves, and she uses this to stream and download some of her favorite programs from Nickelodeon and Disney Channel. She also uses my Sony Vaio PC to play on Build a Bearville and Barbie.com. Then there’s me, who runs a plethora of websites via my home business, so I am constantly utilizing the Internet to get work done.
Simply put, we use a lot of bandwidth. Even with the fastest Internet speeds in my area, it can be a bit much.
Recently, I had the opportunity to try Western Digital’s new MY NET N900 450 + 450 Wi-Fi HD Dual Band Router, which allows storage as well as gives me the option of using Parental Controls to limit my little one’s access. The dual band doubles the bandwidth of my normal router, and because it’s amplified, gives me a faster web experience since we live in a 3 floor townhome. My son, my daughter, and I can all stream at the same time effortlessly without worrying about the Internet speed slowing down. It also makes for a better entertainment experience for streaming HD video. No more choppiness!
In addition to the MY NET router, I also got to try out their WD TV Live, which is a streaming media player. My son really loves this because he doesn’t watch traditional television—he streams his favorite shows and watches programs and movies on his MacBook. Since his screen is rather small, he is using thr WD TV Live to do this very same thing, but on his HD TV and not his laptop. It’s like having his own entertainment system.

I liked both their Facebook pages. I would love to win this package because I have so much trouble with my internet either becoming very slow at times or it just completely cuts out and won’t let me use it when I really need to so this would help me out so much since I spend a lot of my time on the computer. Also my fiance and I watch a lot of movies and they are not always clear and easy to see. So the HD video experience would make us both happy. 🙂 My fiance Justin would be so excited if I could win something like this because he loves electronics and it would be a great late 21st birthday present! 😀
