I have a love and hate relationship with my bras. Being a fabulous sister with huge boobs has its advantages and disadvantages and sometimes, I have a hard time finding a bra that fits right. I like a bra that is fabulous and supports as it should. I tend to spend a lot on bras so I can get the “right” one, but every once in awhile, I am bamboozled by a great looking bra that doesn’t do my girls any justice.
Which is why I was stoked to find out about the “Giving is Beautiful” campaign spearheaded by Soma Intimates, a leading maker of well-fitting bras. This nationwide charity initiative works to collect new and gently used bras for women in need.
Why bras you ask? For homeless and battered women, bras and other intimates are the least item donated. Soma Intimates want to help by making sure that all women have a bras, no matter their background or situation.
You can donate a bra or two until August 14th at any Soma Intimates Boutique across the country (you can also mail in your bras if you don’t have a Soma near you). For a location near you, click HERE. And any bras that cannot be worn will be sent to The Bra Recyclers, a textile recycling organization that ensures no bra ends up in a landfill.
And what’s cool about the “Giving is Beautiful” campaign is that the bras donated will be used right in the community. “While national in scope, Soma’s bra donation initiative is local in nature – directly impacting communities where the bras are donated. Each Soma Intimates boutique works with women’s shelters and other charitable organizations in its own region to help women in need in that area. Soma also uses this initiative to help women who have lost personal items in the wake of destruction from natural disasters”.
So fabulous!
First launched in 2010, “Giving is Beautiful” has received 68,000 bras for women in need. During this campaign, they would like to bring that total to 150,000 bras by next year.
And you aren’t just a winner when you donate a bra. You can also win a $500 gift card by entering the “Bra Guessing Contest” to guess how many bras will be collected this season.
I plan on donating a few bras to the “Giving is Beautiful” campaign this year. I hope you will too!

SUCH and awesome campaign! I have several bras that I no longer wear, but never really wanted to throw them away.

Fabdogooder, I feel the same way. I bought some really pretty bras a few mths ago only to find out they were pretty on the eyes but sucked in terms of the support. So glad they will be able to be used by women who need them. Thanks for commenting.

I can honestly say I’ve never thought of donating my bra. Interesting indeed.
