Are you knee-deep in holiday party invites and unsure what you’ll wear? If the answer to your question is yes, you’ve come to the right place. As your resident midlife lifestyle blogger, I am sharing a few ideas of what to wear to a holiday party over 40.
And I am not talking boring, drab style here. We midlifers know style and know how to do it right. So, you’ve come to the right place.
Shimmer
Make a statement at your holiday party with some shimmer. Last year, I wore this mini party shift dress to a company holiday party and paired it with a blazer. I was cute at just $35 at Target without breaking the bank. Here’s a similar dress that is available now to purchase.
Red Carpet
A classic look will never go out of style. I purchased this dress in 2018, and it remains one of my favorites to wear to parties and dinners. The navy blue hue makes it suitable for any time of the year, but especially while making the holiday rounds. This dress is similar on Amazon.

Bet on Black
An all-black affair makes for a stunning look. I paired an off-the-shoulder bodysuit with a ruched skirt from Shein. You can recreate this look as a two-piece or choose a dress like this one.
Pink Tings
This time of year is perfect for red and green attire, but why not make a statement with pink? A little magenta, bold pink number still brings the holiday party vibe but in an untraditional way.
Keep it Casual
Not all holiday fetes require dressy attire. For those more low-key on the profile, opt for comfy jeans and a turtleneck and spice it up with heeled boots. You will be effortlessly casual but oh-so-chic, giving holiday realness.
So, you have five different looks for five different festive occasions. Which one is your favorite? Which one(s) would you wear?
