I’ve written countless blog posts explaining why Mondays give us more opportunities than we give them credit. This disdain for this day probably began when we were school-aged. As kids, we didn’t want the weekend to end, and Sunday evenings provided us with the onset of Sunday Scaries because Mondays meant school, teachers, homework—all the things.
But we are grown GROWN now, and instead of lockers and the threat of detention, Monday signals the start of the workweek for many of us. So, those thoughts we experienced as youths transferred to us as adults embedded in the corporate grind.
I decided long ago (ala The Greatest Love of All) to reclaim my power and redefine Mondays for myself. Instead of gloom, doom, and dread, Monday would signify a new beginning and a chance to get things right. Mondays are a blessing and should be treated as such.
Please jump on this bandwagon with me. I am sharing Five Reasons You Should Look Forward to Mondays—let’s go forth and reimagine what possibilities the start of the week can bring.
It’s a Blessing
Seeing Monday means that you survived to live another day. If that isn’t a blessing, I don’t know what is! Every day above ground beats the alternative, so instead of brooding, change your mindset and embrace the day.
Fresh Start
Mondays can serve as a reset. Are you trying to eliminate something from your diet or start a new habit? Mondays can be the starting block to inspire you to move forward with your goals. Let it be your benchmark and your new beginning.
Be Different
While others are phoning the day in and dreading their Mondays, you can be different and use it to your advantage. Whether personal or professional, using Mondays to the fullest can give you a running start.

Build Momentum
How you start the week can aid in how you finish it. Start strong with goals and intentions, and your Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will be much better. The momentum you put forth on Monday can make all of the difference.
Do the Hard Work First
Knock out all the hard things at the beginning of the week, and it’s smooth sailing from there. You can hit the ground running when everyone else is counting out Mondays.
So, there you have it. Mondays don’t have to suck, and in fact, can be the foundation you need to have a good week. Say goodbye to those Sunday Scaries. Make Monday something that you look forward to.
