Late October is the most wonderful time of the year for many of us. Why?
Because it’s Hallmark Christmas movie time!
YES! We know, we know. Hallmark Christmas movies are often lauded as fluffy pieces of non-art that all have the same ending with the same people and in the same small towns and big cities all around the centralized theme of the holiday season. A lot of people don’t like to admit that they like Hallmark Christmas movies.
I am not one of those people.
I look forward to this time of year every year, and Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas.
This year, there are plenty of new holiday movies to choose from AND it will be more diverse than ever. There are six new holiday-styled movies featuring people of color, more than in past years. They’ve been listening (thankfully), and for that, I am grateful.
Here are a few of the Hallmark movies I am looking forward to watching this season:
Deliver By Christmas
Premieres: October 25 at 9 p.m. ET/PT
Network: Hallmark Movies & Mysteries
Stars: Alvina August and Eion Bailey
Plot: A bakery owner finds herself falling in love with two different men: A mysterious client who she’s never met in person and a new widower in town. She struggles to make her heart choose—because she doesn’t realize they’re the same person
One Royal Holiday
Premieres: November 1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT
Network: Hallmark Channel
Stars: Laura Osnes, Aaron Tveit, Krystal Joy Brown, Victoria Clark, and Tom McGowan
Plot: Anna (Laura Osnes) offers a stranded mother and her adult son shelter during a blizzard, only to find out that they are the Royal Family of Galwick. With nowhere else for them to go, she shows the royals how locals in her town celebrate Christmas.
A Christmas Tree Grows in Colorado
Premieres: November 24 at 8 p.m. ET/PT
Network: Hallmark Channel
Stars: Rochelle Aytes and Mark Taylor
Plot: Erin (Rochelle Aytes) is planning her town’s Christmas celebration and is desperate to use a particularly beautiful spruce tree to decorate—but first, she must win over the firefighter whose property it’s on.
