Everywhere you look right now, it’s all pumpkin everything. In coffee shops, on porches, in stores, and everywhere in between, it is pumpkins galore. There are also two kinds of people—those who embrace the pumpkin scenery and those that don’t. Me? I am definitely a pumpkin lover. Just take one look in my home currently, and you might think that I have overdosed on the fruit. And while you may not be a fan of it, this is indeed pumpkin season, and here is no stopping them.
So, you either get with the program, or you don’t. Either way, pumpkins are going to pumpkin.
Much like pumpkins, we all have our time to shine. Your glow-up may be on the way, or you may be in the full throes of hitting your stride, or you might be in a post-glow phase. Whatever the case, there are times in our lives when we thrive, we excel, we succeed, and we do the damn thing. Then there are other instances where we may find ourselves in a slump.

It is not about what we are going through, but how we go through it. We have to choose wisely how to react and pivot. Mamas, life is like pumpkins. We all have our season.
So, how are we going to go through the season when things are going well? How are we going to navigate work and life when things go badly? My approach has always been to be proactive and not reactive—and ready for whatever. The last two years have been filled with extreme highs and extreme lows, which makes me appreciate the peaks alongside the valleys.
When you have a plan for your season, you will be most prepared to enjoy it to its fullest.
Here are a few ways that you can be ready for your Pumpkin Season, aka Your Glow Up:
Take notes
When things are going well for you, take notes. What were you doing differently that caused you to experience greatness? How were you moving in life? Who were your allies and support system? All of these ingredients equal your secret sauce, so take notes and know your recipe so you can repeat it.
Be prepared
I’ve talked to a lot of working moms, an many of them have said that when their Big Time came, they weren’t ready. This affected the way they were able to capitalize on it, which meant that they missed out on some further opportunities. To that, I say this: the best time to get ready for the sunshine is when you are inside of the storm. Those hard times are what can help build you into the badass of tomorrow, ready to takeover and conquer the world. Use the valleys to build your hills and prepare for it now.
Seize the momentum
While the wind is in your sails, that is when it is time to propel yourself even further. During your season, you’ve taken notes, you have a plan, and it is time to put that plan into motion. Life usually works with synergy—while good things are happening, you tend to attract even more goodness, so don’t shrink down. Instead, be powerful and know that you are deserving of all the things.
For example, a few years ago when I was going through a really good season, that is when I decided to write three books (two of them I wrote at the same time) because I wanted to tap into that positive energy while the creative juices were flowing. It’s a good thing I did because I began pre-sale on these books when I just released my first book, and that created even more sales because I seized the momentum.
Got it?
Life is like pumpkins—we have our season, then we make way for the next phase of our experience. And before you know it, our time and season comes back ’round again. No matter where you are in your working mom evolution, always know that your season, your time, is yours, and no one can take it away from you.
Here’s to our next season, and the seasons after that!
