I was invited to experience the new Kia Niro during the #ExperienceNiro National Press Introduction in San Antonio. I am sharing my thoughts and opinions about this vehicle below.
The name Niro (Nero) has the following meaning: Strong, powerful. It brings to mind the infamous Roman emperor Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus.
I am not for certain why Kia chose to name its newest available automobile Niro, but the definition above seems to fit this formidable car to a T.
While in San Antonio recently, I became acquainted with the new Kia Niro (click HERE). And what an introduction it was! It’s a stylish car that is in a crossover class and since it’s a hybrid, fuel economy isn’t an issue.
Unlike other hybrids, however, the Kia Niro is quite impressive in terms of looks. His body has clean lines and an aesthetic that Kia has become known for. The Niro shows us that just because you have a hybrid, doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice a polished and fly ride for an obviously “hybrid” looking vehicle.
I was able to take a spin in the Kia Niro around San Antonio for a Ride and Drive, and I am sharing several fun facts about my new car crush, and what I learned during my latest adventure.
Groove is in the Heart
The Kia Niro features a Harman Kardon sound system in certain models, and it packs a punch. While taking the curves on some rugged Texas roads, having a quality audio experience is most necessary. You can crank up the music and turn it up nice and high—life is a highway.
Drive Me Crazy
The Kia Niro is the only vehicle equipped with Eco DAS (Driving Assistance System). It features 3D navigation, autonomous braking, and more. It helps to assist you when driving to help keep you safe.
Soul Sister
Mike Torpey, Senior Designer at Kia, was inspired by the Kia Soul for the design of the Niro. He’s also responsible for the aesthetic of that vehicle, which is known for its fun factor.
Baby, You Can Drive My Car
This hybrid car offers impressive fuel economy boasting 52 mpg city in the FE model. This is good news for those of you who want fuel efficiency and an eco-friendly car to boot. Move over, Prius.
Money Can’t Buy You Love
…but it can buy you a Kia Niro affordably. It’s priced at $22,890 for the FE $23,200 for the LX, and $25,700 for the EX. The Touring models are slightly higher. Prices listed are MSRP.
After spending a few days with this car, I must admit, I like it. I love the direction that Kia is going in, and the variety of vehicles they have to offer to fit everyone’s needs. And I’m not only a fan, but I am also a Kia owner, too!
The Kia Niro is now available at many Kia dealers nationwide. Click HERE for more info.
