Halfway Through 2015: Six Tips to Help You Finish the Year Strong

Halfway Through 2015 Six Tips to Help You Finish the Year Strong

Six months behind us—six months more to go.

You started 2015 strong and bold. You made a list of goals. You strategized. You planned. Things were going well and you were starting to make some headway. And then, as the year started moving into March and April and then May, you fell off. It’s easy to do, as creating habits and a consistent plan for your goals is hard for most to achieve. And now that we are about halfway through 2015, you aren’t where you want to be.

But the good thing about all of this is that you have the opportunity to shift and pivot and self correct. And you still have six months to finish the year on a good note and with your goals and achievements mission accomplished. I am sharing six tips to help you finish the year strong, and they are tips that I am also following to make sure that 2015 is a banner year.

#1 Follow your own plan, not someone else’s

It can be easy to get caught up in what other people are doing. But while they are moving closer to their purpose, you remain stagnant. Here’s the deal: you can’t follow someone else’s blueprint, you have to create your own. The recipes to your secret sauce are authentic to you, your experiences, and your offerings. So go forward knowledgeable about trends and what’s going on in the space around you, but don’t copy it. You are a unique and talented individual who should be sharing your gifts with the world. Don’t look to others to chart your course—look to yourself.

#2 Work on your goals every day. No skipping

You have to work on your goals each and every day. When working towards world domination, there are no days off. This doesn’t mean that you neglect your family and your relationships; it just means that each day you do something that is related to your goals and making moves forward towards your end game.

#3 Let go of dead weight

Dream-killers, naysayers, and negative folk need not be around to pull you down. Let go of the dead weight—friendships that aren’t promising, doubters, and people who want to sabotage you. Once you are lighter, you can then move boldly towards making your dreams come true.

#4 Take risks

Dare I say you played it safe during the first six months of the year? Now it’s time to gamble and take a few risks. An example of this would be the following: did you have a goal this year of writing a book? Why not release the proposed release date of book on social media? Then you are bound to that date, and it will give you motivation to get started and have it completed by the date you announced. Thinking outside the box and making huge leaps forward will not only help you reach your goals, but ensure that you do them in a timely fashion.

#5 Collaborate

Two heads are better than one. And if there is someone you know working towards the same professional ambition and target, then you both can work on a joint venture or partnership to leverage one another’s talent to help propel you both. It can be just what the doctor ordered to fuel you and push you towards the finish line.

#6 Accountability Partner

Work with a Mastermind group, accountability partner, or tribe to assist you. They will act as accountability partners to inspire and encourage you while you work towards your objectives. I personally utilize this tip, and it has done wonders for me personally and professionally.
