Last week’s Do the Work Project philosophy was focused on Point One: Be Positively Consistent (click the link if you are new to Do the Work Project. The password is AWESOMESAUCE). The foundation of your success must be grounded on your strengths and using them on a consistent basis to propel your endeavors. Hopefully you completed the worksheet within the principle that helps you identify your positive traits, and it is now time to move on to the next philosophy point: Give No Excuses.
This is one sticking point that I have issues with. When working towards our goals, we are sure to experience setbacks and obstacles—that is a part of life. It is how you deal with these obstacles that can determine your progress—or lack thereof.
Excuses usually come into play when we don’t want to take responsibility for our actions or inaction. It is much easier to give an excuse than really own up to the real issue at hand, so we do it rather often and it becomes a habit.
But excuses don’t get the job done, and sets us up for failure. People who experience true success are usually those that own up to their weaknesses, and try to improve upon them instead of passing the buck.
So today, I vow to stop giving excuses. And I hope you will do the same. Having accountability partners and people in your circle to check you can assist you in not giving excuses. If you are utilizing the Do the Work Project 2015 Facebook Community, make sure to share your goals and vision so we can help you reach them and not give excuses as to why you haven’t.
Because, it truly takes a village.
I’ve got a new worksheet for Part Two: Give No Excuses that can help make you accountable for what you do—no excuses.
Next action steps:
- Complete the entire worksheet. Even if you get stuck, or begin to feel overwhelmed, take a break, and come back to it. The findings can help you in so many areas.
- Share your thoughts on the Do the Work Project 2015 Facebook Community.
- Create a success journal to write down your thoughts as they relate to your entrepreneurial goals.
