It’s officially 2015. And for many of you, this week marks a return to the office after a week or so of holiday celebrations and seasonal fun. But it also is a time that we must get back into focus and get our heads in the game so we can make the year the most awesome it can be. When speaking of your professional life, what are your career goals for 2015? What’s next?
Last month, I posted my 2014 Career Assessment so that you could gauge where you were at professionally. Completing the assessment can help you determine if you are heading in the right direction, and if not, where you should be moving towards. This can assist you with the question of what’s next.
You may have already created some resolutions as it relates to your professional career. Knowing how you are going to achieve those goals can bring you one step closer. It is one thing to have a goal–it is another to have action and steps planned to make it happen. Because without action, there can’t be much progress.
As far as my career goals for 2015, I want to release my first hardcover book on Work Life Management. I also want to continue to speak and do presentations on Work Life Management and entrepreneurial type of topics across the United States. I want to attend more professional conferences to gain more knowledge, and I want to continue to grow my blog and audience. What’s next for me is to become the go-to authority on Work Life Management and career topics by sharing my tips and tools globally.
So, do you know where you’re going to, professionally?
Hopefully, if you haven’t quite mapped out your goals yet for 2015, it’s still early in the game. Start plotting your course now. Trust me, others in your field are already working diligently on their world domination, so you should be too.
No matter your goals, know/do the following:
- Results take action.
- Be positively consistent.
- Ask for help when needed.
- Accept support.
- Enjoy even your smallest of steps.
- Capitalize on your wins.
- Under promise and over deliver.
- Think BIG, but don’t forget to dream.
If you are looking to become an authority in your profession and you don’t already have a website or blog, I’d say that you need to get on that right away. It can allow you to build your authority quickly, and helps you become an influencer. Alongside a blog and/or website, having a podcast can help you reach the masses as well, and is a popular way to get to your target audience. If you need help with podcasting, you can connect with @IamBrandyButler on Twitter, or on her website Prominent and Profitable. She has helped a lot of people with their podcast, and she can do that for you too!
