If you are hosting a holiday dinner at your house, then you may be scrambling for ideas on how to set your table that makes everyone feel at home. I do a fair share of entertaining during the holiday season, and I like to keep things festive and fun. Using place cards for the table always brings a suitable touch to the festivities and can make for a fun ice breaker, too.
During the holiday season, you can create wonderful DIY place cards with many of the things that you already have around the house. By using symbols of the season, you are sure to bring a smile to your guests’ faces while also creating a party favor for them to take home.
Here are Five Fun Place Setting Ideas for the Holidays:
Gold Pinecone
If you are looking for something that is traditional and elegant, you may want to use this holiday place card and place setting idea. Simply fabulous, I created napkins from some gold chevron fabric I had from Michaels from another project. The pinecone and the actual place card are both from Crate and Barrel. I used a hole puncher to create the whole in the card, and use gold string to tie it to the pinecone. The end result was stunning.
Cookie Cutters
What does the fox say? Well, when it comes to this place setting, he probably would say FUN! Simply grab a holiday themed cookie cutter and use a gift tag and affix it to the cookie cutter. It makes a fabulous statement on the table and can be used as a party favor to take home.
Kids’ Table
This is a fun way to set the kids’ table during your holiday dinner. You can easily get antler headbands or something similar at the Dollar Store. The plate used in this photo is one that my daughter made at The Painting Spot—we have almost enough for a full setting. Add your own place card with construction paper and voila! You’ve got something the kids will love.
Ornament
I love this particular holiday place card and place setting, because it is one of the easiest to make. All you need is a holiday themed plate and an ornament that you have in your holiday decorations. Affix a chalkboard tag to the ornament using decorative string or twine and you’ve got yourself a holiday place card and place setting that is picture perfect.
Chalkboard
I am totally obsessed with chalkboard—I use it for everything when I craft. This holiday place card and place setting is really simple, and can be used not just during the holiday season, but pretty much all year ’round. Use a simple chalkboard place card that you can find in your local craft supply store and write the names of your guest using a chalkboard pen. When done, take a napkin and wrap the chalkboard (mine is on a stick stand) with twine or ribbon along with the silverware. It makes for a wonderful place setting.
You can also add a personalized touch by using a frame and photo of the person for a unique place card and place setting, too. There are tons of unique place card and place setting ideas for the holidays—just get creative.
