Disclosure: I was loaned this vehicle in exchange for my social influence and honest review. The opinions in this review belong to me and are not indicative of the companies or brands mentioned.
A few weeks ago, I was en route to New York City for Blogging While Brown from Baltimore where I was spending time with a friend. My friends at STI loaned me the 2015 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring to drive to New York and get around the D.C. area in. As you may have noticed, I love indulging in a roadtrip, and since it was only about a 3 hour drive from Baltimore to New York, I was game.
Unfortunately, on the way to New York, the windshield was hit with a rock and shattered the entire windshield. It was pretty brutal. So I had to make new plans to get to New York.
But, the good news is this—me and my friend weren’t hurt, and, because I got in a few days before I was due to travel to New York, I got the opportunity to drive around in the 2015 Mazda CX-5 to test her out a bit. All’s well that ends well.
What did I think? Well for starters, I am a huge Mazda fan, and I appreciated the styling of the vehicle. It’s a spiffy little ride that seats five, and has all of the features you would want. It’s not quite a SUV but not quite station wagon. It’s a cross between, which makes it perfect for a small family, or a single who likes to have extra space just in case friends want to come along. It can be sporty, it can be quirky. But it’s definitely functional.
One of my favorite features on the Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring was the Blind Spot Monitoring (which most 2014/2015 Mazda’s have). When driving on the highway, this is a very useful tool to have. A light will appear on your side-view mirror when a car is too close for you to switch lanes. Oftentimes, we can’t see that (thus the term blind spot), so this is a feature that comes in handy. There’s also dual temperature controls so your passenger can set their own temperature setting.
Because of the Skyactiv technology in the Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring, it can rival the fuel efficiency of a hybrid vehicle. It gets an EPA estimated 35 miles per gallon, which is better than other vehicles in its class.
The 2015 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring also can come equipped with the following:
- Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry
- Bluetooth handsfree capability
- Bose Centerpoint Speakers
- HD Radio with Pandora and XM Sirius Satellite Radio
- Mazda Navigation System
- Rearview camera
- Audio menu voice command
I had fun driving the “Deep Crystal Blue” Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring, and could see myself driving in again (this time, without the rock shattering incident).
The Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring MSRP as shown here is $27,940. Click here for more details.
Big thanks to Mazda, Rod, Josh, and the crew at STI for the loaner wheels. You guys rock!
