‘Tis the season to be jolly—and giving! The holiday season is all about joy, sharing, and giving to others without expecting anything in return. Many of us have so much to be thankful for, so spreading our good fortunes to others is something I try to do, not just during the holidays, but all year around. My family has plenty of holiday traditions that we indulge in every year—our Christmas Eve party is one tradition that we’ve been doing for the last 10 years, and is such an integral part of our Christmas. Volunteering and donating items to the less fortunate are also traditions that are important to us. It is a great way for my daughter to learn the importance of giving back, and it keeps me focused on the true reason of the season.
I enjoy purchasing items that I know will help others and help to change the world. Last month, I blogged about Hickory Farms Reserve line of gift boxes filled with aged and artisanal cheeses and meats (here) that make awesome as gifts, or as amazing foods for your next holiday soiree. Hickory Farms also has a Party Planner box that I also reviewed last year (here) that makes for a great gift–and each time a Party Planner box is sold, Hickory Farms will donate $5 to Share our Strength (SOS) No Kid Hungry Campaign, a leading non-profit organization that works to stamp out childhood hunger. I am told that to date, Hickory Farms with the help of their customers have raised 1.9 million for SOS.
Hickory Farms offers free shipping to military APO and FPO addresses on eight of their products, including the Beef Hearty Hickory and the Home for the Holidays basket.
Learn more about charitable giving with Hickory Farms with Chef Kristina Vanni, who in the video below, gives tips on picking out the perfect gift, and shares how Hickory Farms gives back. Hickory Farms hopes to provide #7MillionMeals to help eradicate childhood hunger.
This year, continue to celebrate old holiday traditions by starting new ones that can last a lifetime while helping others.
