We’ve made it to the end of the year (almost!), and will rightfully be rewarded with office parties we can use to justify buying new dresses. But which one to choose?! The holidays are supposed to be fun, so I have done all of the heavy lifting for you. I am sharing five of my favorite dressy looks you can apply to every holiday/Christmas party you are sure to attend. Almost all of these looks are work-sponsored party appropriate with the addition of tights and a wrap or stole.
To go from day to night I recommend changing from flats to heels, add a cropped faux fur jacket, paint a red lip, and pull your hair into a messy (or neat) bun to complete the look.
1. Sequins
The best time to wear sequins is on New Year’s Eve and when you are the hostess. Think outside of the box and go for a dress that has an unexpected pattern. Think of pairing this look with a velvet stole or another lush fabric to really go bold.
My picks:
2. Mod Dress
The key to a mod dress is a high collar and a short hemline. You can make the style office party-ready by wearing opaque tights. If you keep your accessories and make up to a minimum, then you allow the dress to single-handedly make a statement.
My picks:
3. Lace
If you are still a little unsure of what to wear, consider lace as the go-to fabric in terms of holiday pieces – especially since it automatically dresses (ha!) everything up. I am a fan of lace in every color and it gets bonus points if it has scalloped edges. Keep your hair and makeup casual (unless your party is more formal, then go all out with the 50’s finger waves).
My picks:
4. Leather
Holiday party dresses get a reputation for being “safe” or “festive,” but there’s no reason you can’t turn it up a notch. Leather is more fun and stylish than ever! Red, purple, blue, green, together with the traditional black leather, this holiday season, designers made sure that you had a wide selection. Whether you need the perfect piece you can wear to work and to the work after party or if you need your leather to be subtle and simple, I have you covered!
My picks:
5. Winter White
And what would a holiday dress list be without winter white? The ultimate holiday dress will have the perfect length, fit, sequins and beading to compliment your body type. You have the ability to rock the perfect dress and make a lasting impression at your company party.
My picks:
In my opinion, holiday parties call for more than just a simple LBD but that’s not to say you have to count them out. For a holiday party, the more sparkle, glitter and brocade in an outfit, the better.
Happy holidays and enjoy shopping for your holiday party dress!
