Wow, summer’s actually coming to an end and if you’re like me, you’re already making a list of everything you’d love to do with the kids to enjoy the crisp, yummy weather in Fall.
That’s right. Let’s look at some lovely fun and FREE Fall activities for kids. And yes, you can have just as much as fun as the little ones with these!
1. Fruity Fun for Fall
Fall is the perfect season to go apple picking and then, use those apples to make some delicious apple pie, crumble or crisp. Or just munch on them, fresh off the trees! Yum!
Fall is also when, pumpkins are at their glorious best and while not technically a fruit, can you say no to pumpkin pie? Guess not! Have the kids, both young ones and older ones, help you out and while it may take longer, it will be a baking session that everyone would love!
If finding apples or pumpkins to pick is a challenge, look for some acorns to pick or mushrooms!
2. Love ‘em Leaves
The foliage during Fall is Nature at its colorful best. Make the most of it by getting the kids and enjoying the vibrant colors and the crisp, cool air filled with that fresh, leafy fragrance. Rake the leaves, gather them and press them or paint them. Make leaf art or spend time learning about different leaves. Fun, interesting, educational and free! This one does tick all the boxes.
3. Head Outdoors
The gorgeous weather means that you shouldn’t stay indoors for too long. Round up the kids, pick up their bicycles and head outdoors. Plan a picnic, go for a hike, visit the neighbors {you can take some of that pie!} and just breathe and savor the season!
4. Stay Indoors
While going outdoors during the Fall is a great way to enjoy the season, you can also, have some fun indoors. Reading about Fall is a fab and free way to spend time with the kids. You can also, make the most of this season by having impromptu play dates at your home. The kids will get to play with their friends while you can enjoy chatting with the Moms. Another great indoor activity idea is to have a bunch of Fall-themed games to play with the kids. Love these ideas by Spoonful.
5. Visit the Local Nature Center or State Park
Most Nature Centers have free or low-cost entries and make for great Fall fun. The kids can enjoy learning about different wildlife and conservation, hiking, taking photographs and just having good, old-fashioned fun!!
