Fashionista, uber beauty, and Academy Award winning actress Halle Berry is ditching her glam squad for her realistic portrayal of a 911 operator in Sony Pictures’ The Call, which opens in theaters Friday, March 15th. Halle plays an emergency operator by the name of Jordan who is given the task of trying to rescue a teenager (Abigail Breslyn) who has been kidnapped by a serial killer. And by the looks of the trailer, it looks like it is going to be a fast-paced thriller that is going to have everyone on the edge of their seats.
We’ve all come to know Halle as a gorgeous scene stealer with her trademark edgy short haircut and flawless features. But in this film, Halle will be playing an everyday woman without the designer labels and such, working hard to earn a living. Little does she know that she will have the greatest responsibility ever by saving someone’s life.
I’ve been a fan of Halle’s since she first appeared opposite Eddie Murphy in Boomerang in 1992. And even then when she was playing the good-girl to Robin Given’s barracuda, Halle still was a scene stealer whose “girl next door” persona was mesmerizing. Fast forward twenty years later and Halle is still a hot topic, and her fashion sense? Even haute-er!
Two weeks ago at the 85th Annual Academy Awards, Halle wore a sequined metallic dress from Versace, and walked the red carpet with all heads turned towards her (she also made several highly acclaimed Best Dressed lists). Seeing Halle in a film where she isn’t dressed to the nines and gorgeous as ever is when she shines the most—who can forget her Oscar winning performance in Monster’s Ball? It seems that when Halle is stripped down is when she is able to let everyone focus on her ability and talent and not on her appearance.
Here’s the synopsis for the new Sony film, The Call:
When veteran 911 operator, Jordan (Halle Berry), takes a life-altering call from a teenage girl (Abigail Breslin) who has just been abducted, she realizes that she must confront a killer from her past in order to save the girl’s life.
