October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and as you may know, the best way to treat breast cancer is by early detection. Self breast exams are a way that women can check for any lumps or malformations in the breast, which could be a sign of breast cancer. I make sure to stay in tuned with my body, and I perform a self breast exam regularly to check for any irregularities.
I’ve read tips on how the self breast exam should be done, but really haven’t had a tutorial on it. When I received this video in my inbox which gives step-by-step directions and visuals on how to do one, I knew I needed to share it with you guys.
My Aunt was diagnosed earlier this year with breast cancer after a routine mammogram. She went through months of treatment including a lumpectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation. I can say that she is doing much better now and is a true survivor. I am so thankful everyday that she had that mammogram and found it relatively early.
According to WebMD, self breast exams should be done about one week after your menstrual cycle.
Please check out the video below to see how a self breast exam should be done.
I hope that this video helps all of us take control of our health and wellness. Early detection is so very important and can save your life.
Special thanks to Tony at the Online Education Database for sharing this video with me and allowing me to post it for my readers.
