Is anyone as giddy about autumn as I am? After a long, hot summer it’s absolutely joyous to feel a crisp chill in the air! Whether you’re cuddling in the football stands with your sweetheart or taking the kids to a fall carnival, you will need warm and stylish outerwear. Here are a few ideas to get you excited about this year’s fall outerwear trends!
(1) Get in touch with your inner British with a Toggle coat and riding boots. Can’t you just see yourself taking the kids to school or attending an outdoor concert in a Toggle coat with a warm turtleneck underneath. What a great look!

(2) Scarves are definitely a must. They are a great layering item and a fabulous way to show off your individual style. But have you ever noticed that it seems as though you can never tie a scarf quite right? I’ll admit that I’m in that unfortunate club. Here’s a helpful little hint…go to YouTube. Just visit YouTube.com and search for demos on tying a scarf. It’s amazing but true. Problem solved. Now, go ahead and get your scarf on!

(3) Sweatshirts are no longer for the sweaty gym. This stylish former-gym wear is a great way to wear layers when the morning is cool but the afternoon is warm. Or you can wear your sweatshirt alone à la Jennifer Beals in Flashdance. Either way, you’ll look trendy and stylish and have the comfort of a warm, cozy sweater.

(4) You can never go wrong with a classic trench coat. The trench can be worn over almost anything and they never go out of style. Look in the back of your closet and you probably have a long-forgotten trench coat. Way back in the day, our grandmothers and aunties wore trench coats to flaunt their style. Nowadays, we can follow in their footsteps and add modern elements to update the classic trench coat.

Find your deeper British and call your toggle coat a Duffle coat instead.

Oooh a fashion debate! Loving it!! Toggle refers to the closures and Duffle refers to the wool fabric. I’ll stick with Toggle….find your classic American style with a cozy toggle coat!

Love that scarves are still in. My mother wore the most beautiful scarves in the 60’s and 70’s.
I think they make simple outfits look polished and elegant.
And I’d by a trench in minute if I could look like Audrey Hepburn in one.

Yay for Fall! I love scarves! I also love wearing cute sweatshirts with colored pants. And of course, tall riding boots are a must!
