We’ve been waiting…anticipating. And now it’s here.
Preorders for the iPhone 5 begin this morning, at 12 am online and right now at 8am in stores. Pretty much every location that sells phones will be preselling the iPhone 5 including Apple, Walmart, Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, etc. If you work for an electronic retailer, then chances are, you will be a busy bee today. Ordering online may prove sticky and slow—I hope every preorder site has planned for major traffic, and is able to withstand the crush of traffic to their servers.
The starting price for the new iPhone 5 is $199.00 for the 16 GB, $299.00 for the 32 GB, $399 for the 64 GB. (if you are eligible for an upgrade OR you renew or sign a new 2 year contract). Walmart is the cheapest place to preorder your device at $190 for the 16 GB.
The actual phone will be shipped to customers and in your hands on Friday, September 21st.
As we reported on TheCubicleChick.com a few weeks ago, the new iPhone 5 has some new features including a thinner build, a longer screen, 4G LTE capability, and 20% lighter than the iPhone 4S. And yes, it will operate with iOS 6.
After much thought, I will be preordering a iPhone 5 for me and my son. I was going to wait until all the hub bub went down, but I decided I don’t want to hear what everyone thinks about the phone. I want to buy it and experience it for myself.
Apple with their “unveiling” strategy really know what they are doing. Before the big press conference on Wednesday, I wasn’t excited about the new device. After seeing all of the coverage, I am drinking the kool-aid!
