Fall is my favorite season. Not just because of the mild weather, the autumn leaves, and the shorter days, but because if introduces new television shows onto the prime-time schedule. Last year, I was eager to watch new shows like Pan Am, which ended up getting chopped not even halfway through the season. This year, I am hoping that my Fall television picks will manage to stay on air for the entire season. We will see!
So here are my picks for Must See TV: 5 New Shows Not to Miss This Fall:
1. Nashville (ABC, debuts September 10th at 10/9 CST)
How I love drama! The previews of Nashville look amazing, and if you are a fan of shows like Revenge and Dallas, then Nashville may be for you. Set in the capital of country music, Nashville follows a falling singing star (played by Connie Britton) who is being eclipsed by the new starlet on the block that is hip, trendy, and a tad bit naughty (Hayden Panettiere). What is sure to happen is epic proportions of mischief, lies, and of course the music will set the tone for the show. ABC is putting a lot of money and ads behind this show, so we will see if it pays off. I, for one, am looking forward to the pilot episode.
2. 666 Park Avenue (ABC, debuts September 30th at 10/9 CST after Revenge)
The numbers on the address are a tad bit scary, but also promising. Based on a book by the same name, the show follows a couple who have moved into an apartment building that is haunted. If you are into horror, this new hour drama will be right up your alley. It also stars Terry O’Quinn and Vanessa Williams.
3. The Mob Doctor (FOX, debuts September 17th 9/8 CST)
Let me let you in on a secret—I love anything mob related. GoodFellas is my all-time favorite movie, and I am an avid watcher of Mob Wives, and any Biography specials based on wiseguys. This series is based on a surgeon named Grace, whose family has ties to the mob. How she keeps these two different lifestyles in order, well, I guess we will have to tune in and find out.
4. The New Normal (NBC, debuts September 11th 9:30/8:30 CST)
Gone are the days when television placed families on the schedule who were holier than thou and nothing like “real” families. With shows like Modern Family and The Middle, Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy penned The New Normal, a television series based around a dysfunctional family that is hardly anything but. I plan on laughing a lot while watching this show. We can all use some new comedy relief.
5. Go On (NBC, debuts September 11th 9/8 CST)
I wasn’t a fan of the 90’s sitcom Friends, but I’ve always liked Matthew Perry. He’s returning to prime-time in Go On, in which he plays a sports anchor who has lost his wife, and joins a support group of others to help each other cope. And while I know that doesn’t sounds incredibly amazing, the commercials and extended previews of the show that I have seen have been hilariously funny, in a serious kind of way. I think NBC has a hit on their hands with this one.
And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention a few of the shows that I am looking forward to returning to the lineup this fall:
Revenge (ABC)
Scandal (ABC)
Dallas (TNT)
Mary Mary (WE)
Boardwalk Empire (HBO)
Smash (NBC)
Dancing with the Stars All-Stars (ABC)
What’s on your must see TV list this fall?

This is a good list and good mention of “Scandal”. Can’t wait for Season 2. 🙂
Heard good reviews for “Go On”, and “Mob Doctor” looks very interesting.

Val,
Yes Scandal became one of my favorite programs of last season. I cannot wait until the season premiere. That finale last spring was OMG worthy!

I’m really looking forward to the 666 Park Avenue. I love, love, love Terry O’Quinn and Vanessa Williams just keeps getting better and better. I also noticed actress Wendy Moniz listed as a recurring character, and I remember her from decades ago as Dinah on the Guiding Light.
I’m also excited about Major Crimes on TNT because I really liked The Closer and I’m a huge Mary McDonnell fan.
I’m really disappointed they cancelled Unforgettable on CBS. I tend to fear watching new shows just for that reason, usually let them go a couple of seasons before I commit because I hate it when I like a show and it gets cancelled.

Terri,
I, too, dislike when my favorite shows are taken off the air. Especially when it’s not even announced or you aren’t given warning. A lot of my fave shows later year were axed, so I don’t know if that means I make poor viewing decisions or not. I guess I like what I like and maybe what I like isn’t particularly what the masses watch.
Thanks for commenting 🙂

666 Park Avenue (I’m trying to get over that name) will be a must-watch for me since two of my favorite actors, Terry O’Quinn and Vanessa L. Williams, are in it.
It’s going to take some getting used to seeing “Locke” from Lost (a show I miss terribly) in a new role, but since the show looks creepy I’ll be good.
