It looks like Hollywood is in the full throes of a baby boom. Kourtney Kardashian just gave birth to her second child, Penelope Scotland. And actress, fashion plate, and TV personality Jessica Simpson recently had her first baby, Maxwell Drew, this past Spring. And if that wasn’t enough, last week, singer Adele and actress Claire Danes announced that they were pregnant with their first child. Everywhere you look in Hollywood, it seems as if having a baby is the “new” black. Of course, these celebrities can afford the best there is in baby preparation, baby showers, and the like. But just because you aren’t a celebrity doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate like one.
In order to set the mood for your baby shower event, you have to have a fabulous shower invitation. Of course, the baby shower isn’t about you (unless you are planning your own baby shower), so it is important that the invitation encompasses both the baby’s parents’ personalities. Traditionally, baby showers have been in celebration of the mother, but in the last several years, the father has also been active in event and is often also listed on the baby shower invitation.
Themes for the baby shower are also all the rage. You can choose a theme from the parents’ favorite film (think Breakfast at Tiffany), or even incorporate their favorite colors. A few years ago, I went to a baby shower which was Kentucky Derby style in which we all had to wear ostentatious hats for the affair. The menu and decor fit the whole Kentucky Derby theme and it is still one of my favorite, most memorable events that I have attended.
You also want to make sure that the event is fun for the parents as well as the attendees. Choose games and activities that get everyone involved and create memories.

Just because you aren’t a Kardashian doesn’t mean you can’t throw an event like one. I hope these tips help you make the most out of your baby shower!
