Back in November, I blogged about us moving into a new townhome. In 2009 when I lost my job, my family and I downsized and crammed into a smaller living space and it was a tough 18 months. And after leveling out financially and really progressing with professional blogging, we decided to move to a three bedroom townhome with great square footage and an awesome finished basement. My plan was to redecorate our space and purchase new items to give us that “fresh new start”, but with my hectic schedule and travel itinerary, redecorating fell down in importance on my list.
This Spring, I was back on it. After a few months of rethinking my color scheme and deciding on what type of overall theme I wanted for my home, I began searching for items that fit into that picture. I wanted to start with the finished basement (which we use as our family room, resplendent with a large plasma screen television and gaming system for the kids), it’s our go-to place for hanging out. The furniture in that space is OLD—like from 2001. And outdated. So that was the obvious place to start since all the other rooms in the house had newer furniture.
During my grand opening co-hosting experience at the new La-Z-Boy Furniture Showroom last week, I got to see firsthand the offerings that they had. La-Z-Boy still offers the wonderful recliners that they have been known for for years, but they also have fabulous contemporary and modern options that are well-crafted and appointed. So yesterday, we went to the showroom and picked out the furniture that will outfit our family room:
We settled on the Daphne Supreme Comfort Sleeper with Queen Mattress and a few accent pieces and furnishings. The look is what I was going for (contemporary chic, yet playful), and we added on the La-Z-Boy Guardsman Fabric Protection since I am a clumsy chick and known for spilling everything. My 8 year old daughter also has been known to leave a stain or two as well.
Seeing the professionally styled pieces together really made me see how well they would work and look in my own space, and our salesman, Mark, was very friendly, yet thorough, and answered all of my questions.
I am so looking forward to having my new furniture delivered so we can begin to enjoy our family room in style.
What do you think about the Daphne collection?
As a co-host of the Grand Opening Event of the La-Z-Boy Brentwood location in St. Louis, I was given store credit to purchase the furniture of my choosing. This post is about my experience shopping and La-Z-Boy and is my opinion and has not been impeded in any way by my relationship with the company.
