As a mother of two, I understand the importance of my kids being active in order for them to be physically fit and healthy. Video games, television, and computers have become a mainstay in most of our homes, but there is nothing wrong with spending time with the kids being active participating in activities that promote movement and exercise.
Sprite Spark Parks Project was created as an initiative to help the youth get active. The project began on April 1st of this year to help raise money to create and refurbish playground spaces. By sending in your green tabs from specially marked cans of Sprite and Sprite Zero, Sprite will donate 10 cents per tab up to $500,000 to Habitat to Humanity. Sprite has guaranteed a contribution of at least $250,000. The tabs must be received by June 30th, 2011.
Participating in this initiative helps ensure that kids have wonderful and safe spaces to play in their very own neighborhoods. In a time of technology, there is still nothing like a good old fashioned playground and play space to have fun!
How do we get active in our home? We are very fortunate to have a wonderful park next door to our home that allows my kids to jump and play and get their hearts pumping in a safe environment. Creve Coeur Park is a great area with playgrounds, walking and running trails, and a lake. It’s like having a huge park in our very own backyard!
The Spark Spark Parks Project is an ongoing effort by Sprite to refresh parks, playgrounds and active spaces across the nation. To learn more about current projects and discover ways you can get actively involved, visit www.spritesparkparks.com.
