I am always interested in trying out new applications and social networks that help me meet new people and share my tastes and interests. With ‘Get Glue’, you check-in to let people know what you are watching, reading, listening to, playing, etc. It’s a social network for all things entertainment.
It’s easy enough to use—you can sign up for an account using your Facebook or Twitter account and then you are off. When you are watching a television program or at the movies, you can list that show or film on GetGlue.com and you earn stickers and points for your check-ins. You can use your stickers to get some free, cool stuff like movie tickets, t-shirts, and more. And moreover, you can connect with people who “Like” or check-in to the same things you do.
Most smartphones including the iPhone and Android devices have a ‘Get Glue’ app for when you are on the go.
It’s kind of like Foursquare but for the entertainment community. You can also write reviews for books, films, albums, and anything that you have recently indulged in.
‘Get Glue’ has come in handy for me because I have seen people check-in to television shows on my Twitter feed and Facebook timeline and it has reminded me about the program. I am seeing more and more of my social media friends using the network.
You can learn more about ‘Get Glue’ by going to GetGlue.com

OK, now I get it! You check in while you’re watching a show, movie… I thought it was like Hulu, where I can go and watch a show. I didn’t see any explanation of how GetGlue works. Now, I feel like a fool! I’m trying my best to figure out how to watch the show I missed last night!

LaTonya, I totally understand, I was lost when I first used Get Glue, I was lost too. But now I enjoy checking in when I watch shows, earning stickers, and reading everyone’s reviews and comments about a particular TV show, book, movie, album, etc. I look forward to seeing you on there.

I’ve tried to use Get Glue (twice now) and failed (twice now). I love TV. and I love the idea of checking in to shows and seeing the comments that other people write and jumping in that conversation… It is actually how I got in to Twitter to begin with (I had signed up for a class, to follow marketing/ad people, but started searching for people talking about the TV shows I liked to watch and talked with them instead!).
But I just can’t keep up with Get Glue. Maybe because my TV is in my basement and I rarely take my phone with me down there. Maybe because when I’m watching TV, I usually unplug. Maybe I would rather just tweet a comment about a show than check in to another application.
I don’t know… maybe I’ll try it again (third times a charm, right?)

Danielle, I didn’t get Get Glue at all at first and it took me a few times to actually start appreciating it. You don’t have to check in right when you start watching either. You can check in and leave your review anytime you want, and connect with others who like the same interests you do.
