Indulge me for just a bit— for above anything else, I am a mother. I never thought I would have a little girl, so 10 years after having a boy, I was quite happy when I found out I was having a mini-me—someone to play with, dress up with, and so girlie stuff with. So when my daughter told me she wanted to have a Princess Party for her birthday after passing Sweet and Sassy in the mall, I didn’t put up a fight.
Some say Princess Parties are self indulgent and are for girls whose mothers want to make them grow up fast. I say, that may be the case for some, but for me, it’s harmless and playful fun. Dressing up as a princess and putting on a little make-up and dressing up in princess dresses is fun to some girls. If you are not into that, I totally get it. But for my daughter, she gets to have the day of her dreams once a year. So if we can make it come true for her, then it’s a must as long as it’s within reason.
Now that I got that out of the way, here is a video I put together of the Princess Party festivities at Sweet and Sassy. She and “her girls” as she calls them had a wonderful time being princesses for the day. And I enjoyed watching them have fun!
BTW, my daughter officially turns 7 on Thursday. I am still basking in the last few days of her being 6 :/
