The most romantic holiday of the year is almost upon us, and there are plenty of gift options for couples to buy one another to show their love. Cards, flowers, candy, and jewelry are just some of the trinkets that are popular each and every year. But what about keeping it sexy and interesting on Valentines Day—without breaking the bank?
After all, V-Day is supposed to be about showing the one you love how much you care. And that doesn’t have to mean spending a lot of cash—as a romantic, I love the simpleness of spending a quiet night at home snuggling and watching a movie. So I came up with 5 ways that you and your significant other can keep it spicy on Valentines Day without spending a penny.
Here we go!
His & Her Massages
I love massages, especially when it is one given to me by the man who makes me smile. Most of us have lotion or massage oil on tap, so break it out and explore. Light some candles and set the mood with a little Sade or Prince, and get some good times going. Use your hands to show one another how much you truly care and take turns massaging one another. I promise you, a good massage goes a long way.
Strip Tease
This is pretty much explanatory, but bringing a little burlesque action in the bedroom never hurt nobody. Make a sexy CD filled with some songs that make you feel girlie and break out some of your favorite lingerie. If you do it right, he won’t know what hit him. And you will be in for the time of your life. He can always return the favor and strip for you as well.
Dinner and a Movie
I promise you that this is my favorite way to spend a romantic evening. Pick out a few movies that the both of you like and enjoy them while dining on a meal the two of you prepared together. It’s both fun and therapeutic to cook a meal together and to try out new recipes, and ending with a few movies always sets a romantic mood.
Manicure/Pedicure
Before you scoff at this notion, let me tell you if done right, it is highly erotic and sensual. Have your man give you a pedicure (all you need is water, oil or lotion, fingernail file, polish, and nail clippers) while telling you how much he loves and cares for you. Then you in turn give him a sports manicure, massaging his arms and hands and making him feel like he’s the only man in the world. I’ve done this many times, and believe me, it’s an experience to behold.
Strip Poker
A night with your honey staying in and playing strip poker could really add some spice to your sex life. Start off fully clothed and see who is the best player at the end by who still has their clothes on. You can add some excitement by dimming the lights and adding a blindfold. Let your bodies be your guides…
So there you have it—5 ways to keep it spicy on Valentines Day that isn’t taxing on your budget. It’s not about the amount of money that is spent but about the love the two of you are blessed to share.
Let me know what you think of these ideas.

As a husband who has been married for 34 years to the same woman (Suzie) without a break in service. I have to confirm what has been said here. Valentines Day never looses it’s importance even after you’ve married your Sweetheart.
One more tip to long term relationships. If you will continue the pursuit as if they really are your girlfriend/boyfriend & not settle in on a comfort zone. You’ll keep it fresh. If a man or woman would put half the effort into pursuing their spouse, as they do another man/woman. They wouldn’t need another person in their life.
