Many of you may have seen me discuss the 1st ever RFT Web Awards which were announced last week. I was a finalist for the awards for Best Personal Blog— and the nomination of myself and others in many different niches in the realm of St. Louis blogging culminated in an awards fete which held last night at Firebird.
When I arrived, the scene was buzzing with the social media elite of St. Louis as we networked, mingled, hugged, and congratulated one another. The St. Louis social media community is pretty tight—you will often see the same faces at the same events each month, but the RFT Web Awards brought out some new talented that may have not been noticed before. It was great seeing new faces and learning about new blogs and being in the company of others who understand the power of blogging and how it can shape the way we communicate.
I did not win in my category but that didn’t matter—to be included in such a well versed group of bloggers made me feel very proud. And to know that your peers respect you enough to give you a nod meant the world to me.
Again, I thank you.
I have to give the RFT credit for opening their eyes to the plethora of blogs that are in St. Louis. That can’t be an easy feat since there are thousands of blogs in our humble city. Thank you, RFT, for taking notice of those that blog and create their own opportunities to be seen and heard.
Below are a few photos from the event. It was certainly a good time, and I can’t wait to see what develops at next year’s awards.
