I was too done with American Idol last season after it’s lackluster performance. I was ready to give up on it and set my sites on another singing competition on the boob tube—that is until it was announced that two new judges would be added to the fold—actress, dancer, and singer Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith rock star Steven Tyler.
I love me some J-Lo and Steven, so these new additions was all that was needed for AI to get back into my good graces.
The 10th season of Idol begins on Wed., 1/19 at 8/7 CST with the prerequisite auditions that take place in various cities across the U.S. Many would say that the audition process is the best part of Idol. Wannabe singers give it their all in order to get their golden ticket—some sound like they are ready for stage and others, well—they sound like womp womp womp.
Randy, Jennifer, and Steven (along with a few guest judges along the way) will be picking the standouts of the auditions who will be sent to Hollywood. I hear the women are the ones to beat this year.
I hope that American Idol returns to its glory of finding unknown talents and making them stars, without all the political drama that goes along with it. Please remove the hokey vignettes, broad product placement, and overdone scripting, and get back to basics. If you do, you may return to being one of the greatest reality competitions on television.
This is your last chance, Idol. Make it count!

American Idol was once my saving grace. It was the ultimate reality TV show. I have to say that the new judges does make the show look like a fresh product again.
I of course will be tuning in again on the 19th. I have to see how JLO and Steven Tyler do. I’m happy they kept Randy Jackson around. He’s a very knowledgeable judge.

As you can see, I have high hopes for this 10th season. If the new judges and somewhat new format don’t kick this show into high gear, they will lose a viewer for good. I am hoping that this season will rawk.

I skipped the last 2 years of AI but I plan to watch this season because I’m fans of J-Lo & Steven Tyler. I’ll miss Simon’s brutal honesty though, lol!

New line up of judges. Something new to the show that will give that excitement for sure! I will be missing Simon because of the way he comment to those aspiring idols.

Smanantha-Simon’s X Factor will be on television here in the U.S. soon enough and we can get our Cowell fix. I think J-Lo and Steven Tyler will breathe some added like to the judges panel. Looking forward to this new season.
