As you may have seen me tweet or write about on my blog, I organized (with help of course) and hosted a Harvest Day Supply Drive for Haven House here in St. Louis. As a supporter of non-profit organizations as well as my community, I have become a champion of Haven House and what they do for many families all over the world.
Haven House is a wonderful home away from home for families who have loved ones who are staying in St. Louis or the surrounding area receiving medical treatment. Families come from all over the world to receive medical treatment in St. Louis’s world renown hospitals, and Haven House provides a safe and home-like area so that patients are close to their medical facilities for as little as $35 per day. The longest stay at Haven House has been 500 days. Amazing!
Here is a little video that I put together for today’s event, which was held to raise awareness about Haven House as well as gather some much needed supplies—detergent, bed sheets, plastic bags, and other items were brought in in abundance. I want to thank everyone who came out and participated and brought an item to donate to Haven House.
Special thanks goes to the Haven House staff, Robert of KD Poppas (for the wonderful spread of food), my Twitter friends @tobethode @robynsworld @tojosan @newsjunke @thesearethem @nanna_j for showing their support. And to Paula, Haven House Program Director, you are awesomely amazing.
I hope the video captures the spirit and the mood of the event. Enjoy!
