Reality television shows have taken over prime time, apparently. Most of the programs aside from a handful are guilty pleasures, but there are a few standouts that can do your heart good. Enter NBC’s new reality show, ‘School Pride’ which focuses on schools being rehabbed or rejuvenated by it’s staff, pupils, and the community that it serves.
‘School Pride’ is from the creators of ‘Extreme Home Makeover: Home Edition’ and ‘True Beauty’. It showcases the warm and fuzzy wonderment that made EHM a hit while also hitting home at the heart of the matter why these schools are failing: without community involvement and love from its residents, a school is doomed to fail.
Television cameras follow the students, staff, and community residents as they, according to the official ‘School Pride’ site, “… as they roll up their sleeves and rebuild their own schools, concluding with the unveiling of a brand new, completely transformed school. They are motivated by a quartet of community organizers and personalities – SWAT Commander Tom Stroup; interior designer Susie Castillo (“House of Payne”); comedian and former substitute teacher Kym Whitley (“‘Til Death”); and journalist Jacob Soboroff (“AMC News”). Together, the team of experts will lead the community through the makeover process.
Many school budgets have been cut over the years due to economic shortfalls, and the students are the ones to suffer. With ‘School Pride’, education can get a much needed makeover in several schools that have been ignored and lack the funds to do so.
NBC’s ‘School Pride’ premieres on Friday, October 15th, 8/7 CST. For more information about the show, click HERE.
