This contest is officially closed. And the winner is….
@onetwomany! Please email me your address information so I can forward it to the folks at Save a Lot so they can send your card. Congrats!
Yesterday, myself and several other bloggers were invited to the opening and Dollar Cutting ceremony at the new Save-A-Lot Food Store located in Pagedale in St. Louis County. The store is a triumph for the community—it brings much needed jobs to the area as well as a place where local residents can buy affordable groceries that are healthy for their families. The residents of Pagedale have not had a grocery store in their neighborhood in 40 years!
The new store is a partnership with Beyond Housing, an organization which provides affordable housing and homeownership services. Their programs help families, children, and seniors and they serve as a catalyst for community-wide rebuilding efforts.
The crowd was huge as county and city officials as well as the community turned out to see their dream of having a neighborhood grocery store realized. In honor of the the new store opening in Pagedale, Save-A-Lot made a $5,000 donation to the St. Louis Area Food Bank.
Here are photos of the event:
Save-A-Lot gave me and the other bloggers the opportunity to shop in the new store and see the affordable healthy food alternatives for meals and back-to-school lunches. In addition, in order to spread their message about making sure our children have yummy school lunches that are also healthy, I am giving away a Save-A-Lot gift card worth $50.00 to one lucky winner. To enter, you must simply do the following:
- Follow me on Twitter and Facebook
- Leave a comment below on what type of food you like to pack in your lunch or your children’s lunch. That is it!
One winner will be selected at random after 6pm Wednesday, August 11th. This contest is only open to residents of the U.S.
Good luck guys!
I haven’t visited a Save-A-Lot in years, but I was impressed with their choice of food. They have name brand goods and favorite household staples, as well as a great selection of fresh produce and meat and poultry. Save-A-Lot also promotes living a “green”er lifestyle with the use of reusable shopping bags. No plastic bags in the stores like other chains!
Here is a sample of a few Save-A-Lot school lunches that are healthy & under $2.00!

I like to pack a Mesquite Honey Turkey sandwich, complete with the lettuce and tomatoes. I keep a jar of mayo in my job's refrigerator. Along with chips and a water bottle. I normally include a fruit and an extra snack (granola or energy bar).
I follow you on Twitter (@onetwomany) and on Facebook.

I usually pack (for myself and my nieces) a fruit, I make different types of sandwiches using whole wheat bread. Peanut butter and jelly, turkey and swiss, tuna melt, or just a cheese melt. I also put a yorgurt and milk or a juice box. I hope I win 🙂
