During the wonderful Build-a-Bear Brand Building Workshop event that I was invited to attend last month, we were given many gifts from the CEO of the company, Maxine Clark. One of the gifts was a $25 Giving Card from DonorsChoose.org. This card was given to us so that each of the attendees could donate to causes created by public school teachers and citizen philanthropists.
The premise is simple according to the site—“you give to a classroom project, we deliver the materials to the class, kids learn and show it in photos and thank-you notes” which are posted on the site and sometimes to sent donators and supporters. 65% of the projects listed on DonorsChoose.org reach total completion!
You can choose to give based on categories including city/state, or subject matter such as science and math or literacy and language.
I wanted my money to go to a school in St. Louis. And because I am such a proponent of music and the arts in school, I decided to select that area to give the monies. The projected I selected was called “Little Picasso’s In The Making”. The children needed art materials such as “…paints, aprons, a class painting studio, stencils, rubbing plates, and craft sticks”.
It felt so good to be able to help a worthy cause. Thank you to Build-a-Bear Workshop for the gift!
