I have fallen in love with Yelp! That is because STL Head Yelper Abby invites me to such cool and groovy things. And because I love to eat, why wouldn’t I like a review website that let’s me know the cool, hot, and hip places to visit in the city?
Abby invited a bunch of us local bloggers and Yelp friends to a Yelp Eats 2010 Event at The Shaved Duck which is located in South City St. Louis. I had never been to this place before, but as I perused the menu on their website before attending the fete, I knew it was going to be something I could dig. The Shaved Duck’s tagline is: barbecue, folk, soul. And yes, it’s all that and then some.
First off, I love the atmosphere and the quaintness of it all. It’s a small inside eating space but is filled with a lot of personality and unique decor. Good food plus a spot that is good on my eyes is a place after my own heart!
I met some new people and also ran into some familiar faces as well. We were treated to three courses for $25.00, which was an affordable for most budgets! I feasted on crabcakes with jalepeno creamed corn, seasoned meat loaf with homemade macaroni and cheese (YUM!) and for dessert, Hummingbird Cake, a spiced cake type of fare!
I can see myself eating here again really soon. Check out the pictures of the event!
Thanks to Abby for the wonderful food and drink. You rock! Oh, and to Yelp who employs her!

Thanks for coming Danyelle! Good times had by all 🙂 And just a note – Yelp Eats is going on all week so don't miss out on the chance to get a fantastic dinner deal at one of the participating local restaurants!
