Is there nothing that Michelle Obama cannot do? Earlier during the Obama administration, First Lady Michelle Obama challenged all colleges and their students to perform 100,000 hours of community service. The college that did so would win a keynote address from her during their graduation.
George Washington University took to the challenge and clocked in enough volunteer hours to win the distinction of having the First Lady speak at their commencement. The George Washington University administration thanked Michelle Obama by giving her an honorary Doctor of Public Service degree during Sunday’s graduation exercises.
Volunteering in the community is important, and I urge each and every one of my readers to commit to doing some type of volunteer work at least two hours a month. I currently volunteer at the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center here in St. Louis making phone calls to donors who have not given in awhile. Take the time to give back to your community today.
