No matter how you cut it, we are in a recession. There is less money to go around as prices rise. With that being said, you do not have to live the frugal life unglamorously. As a matter of fact, you can still be a dynamic diva and glamourous girlie and save money while spending your well earned money on extras.
Here is how! :
Beauty School Deals- On Twitter earlier, I asked my followers if anyone had went to a beauty college before for services. Many replied back that they have used a beauty school before for minor services like manicures, pedicures, wash and sets, blowouts, and things of that nature. Beauty schools often charge very low rates in order for their students to get practice, and they are supervised by trained and licensed cosmetologists that know what they are doing. Going to a beauty college can cut down on costs but still leave you looking fab! For major services like cuts, coloring, and chemical services, see your regular stylist. But for in between services and styles, a beauty school is the way to go. Cheap yet chic!
Do It Yourself- I can do a mean manicure and pedicure on my own! With the right tools at hand and a little practice, you can give yourself a mani and pedi that look and feel just like a professional one. You can also give yourself at home facials! A small investment would be needed in order to purchase the items necessary, but after that, you can run the show and save money while doing so!
Saving Clubs & Coupons- CVS, Sally Beauty Supply, Sephora, ULTA Beauty, Borders, Barnes and Noble, AMC Theaters, and so many other stores and shops have savings clubs. Some are free and others require a small fee, but you earn points for free items every time you make a purchase. These points add up and can get you some great free swag and is well worth the investment or sign-up time. Each time you make a purchase, you are making strides to earn free products or you can select the item(s) of your choice! As a member of these savings programs, you sometimes receive member only deals and special in store coupons that are not available to the public.
Enter Online Giveaways- As a blogger who does giveaways on this site, people love giveaways. It is a great way to win a product or service for free! Whenever I see an online giveaway for an item or service that I want, I usually enter. Sometimes I win, sometimes I don’t but I have won some great swag which has saved me money!
Library Anyone- Membership to your local library is free and it has so many services, it is definitely a money saver. Instead of purchasing that best seller on Amazon, check it out at your local library for free. The library also rents out new releases of DVDs, CD’s, albums, and in some instances, video games. What a great way to save the moola!
Product Swap- My friends and I do a lot of product swapping. We get together once a month and exchange nail polishes, earrings and accessories, scarfs, clothes, etc. When we meet up again the next month, we bring the items back and start all over again. A great way to save money trying out new looks without spending a penny!
Drop The Gym- Instead of spending money each month on costly gym membership fees, purchase work-out DVDs. You can also record work-out programs on networks like cable network Fit TV that will allow you instruction while working out in your own home.
Being a recessionista can be fun, and saving money is not that hard to do with planning and perseverance. Do you have any fabulous money saving tips to share?

The product swap is a great way to multiply your accessory wardrobe! That’s a very useful list, thanks.
