The women of Black Hollywood turned out yesterday for Essence magazine’s 4th annual Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon in Beverly Hills, where black actresses Loretta Divine, Jennifer Hudson, Angela Bassett, and Viola Davis were honored for their cinematic achievements. The theme of the luncheon was “Simply the Best” as these top notch actresses have shown that they are indeed the cream of the crop when it comes to cinema.
For the past four years, Essence has celebrated Black Women in Hollywood with a luncheon honoring women who are doing the most in terms of film. It is an event that is always held during Oscar week.

Everyone looks AMAZING. I won’t even shade Miss Bevy who’s dress needed a smidge more material (guess I shaded her after all, lol)
Angela Simmons’ shoes don’t look right with her dress. Her legs look chunky and stubby. The proportions are off. A short dress like that calls for a less clunky shoe especially one that doesn’t come above the ankle.
I need Tia Mowry to give me that large black clutch, lol! Been looking for one that size for a while. She & Tamera’s dresses are gorgeous. Loves Jenifer Lewis. Anika Noni Rose’s makeup is lovely. Kimora’s dress is pretty. That pink compliments her perfectly. One of the Marys is wrong for that hideous wig. Lauren London’s jacket is longer than her shorts & that’s not the way to wear that look. Why is she wearing shorts to a luncheon in the first place???? Marsha Ambrosius looks haute! Lauren L. take notes!
Lela Rochon looks fab! I love her. We need to see her back on TV or in the movies. Jill looks hot! That hair cut suits her. Viola Davis & Loretta Devine are so apropos for the over 40 set. They look very elegant. Angela Basset is gorgeous as always! Victoria Rowell is KILLING it. I think she’s my favorite. The styling is kind of vintage, if she had some gloves on, I’d be over here in a fashion coma, lol!!!

Just found you via Avid Accents. Your blog title caught my eye because I do a “Jen-in-a-Cube” pose.
All of the women you’ve featured look absolutely stunning! It’s hard to comment on just one, but I will because I’m sleepy 😀 Angela Bassett looks like she hasn’t aged in years! Gorgeous!
